CLOVIS, California (KSEE/KGPE) – The Fresno County Coroner’s Office has officially identified the 16-year-old was killed in a motorcycle accident in Fresno on Tuesday.
The medical examiner announced Wednesday that the slain teenager was Austin Ly.
According to the Fresno Police Department, 16-year-old Austin Ly was the motorcyclist was found in the road on Tuesday afternoon in the area of Tulare Avenue and Fowler Avenue in Fresno, not far from Fancher Creek Elementary School. He was pronounced dead a short time later. Investigators say the driver of the other vehicle involved remained at the scene.
The Clovis Unified School District also confirmed Wednesday that Austin Ly was a student at Clovis East High School. Staff described him as a “well-known and well-liked student in our JROTC program and around campus.”
The school district added that staff and students at Clovis East are grieving, and members of both the education team and the mental health support team were on campus Wednesday for student support.
