The keyword for Samsung home appliances is now being talked about, with a range of customizable fridges and freezers moving around the world, along with other appliances to follow.
But what exactly does a bespoke company mean? At this week’s home appliances event, Samsung showed off a video of artists and designers customizing fridges to promote the products in question. The company has since released marketing shots of both brand ambassadors standing out with their brightly colored designs – but so far somehow, the reality is a bit more prosaic.
In practical terms, if you buy from the bespoke range, you can create a fridge freezer without modular units and then choose from a range of colored panels for doors.
UK customers haven’t bought yet, but can register for email alerts from Samsung to find out when the products will be available.
However, bespoke fridges are available for purchase by US customers, with options of a single column column door (from $ 1,169), a bottom mounted freezer (from $ 1,619) and the four -door Flex refrigerator (from $ 3,099).
Feel free to have a lie after reading the prices.
They can be customized in glass or steel finished in a range of eight colors, although not all items are available in all colors. For example, if you want to buy a column refrigerator in the US today, you can only get it now in a navy, white or gray glass finish, which seems desperately unattractive.
In fact, I hope your idea of bespoke tastes like blues, blushes, creams and grays because otherwise, you’re completely out of luck. There are eight colors currently available in the US and a similar – even wider – palette of 14 colors is coming to Europe.
Consumers in Europe will have the option to customize a one -door fridge freezer, a thin one -door and two sizes of low mount freezers. So you can combine a couple of pieces of furniture, and give one a blue door and the other a pink door which is – kind of bespoke, I guess?
There are no prices available for the UK market yet.
It is probably understandable that, after a year stuck indoors, people want to express themselves through their chosen fridge doors. But, looking at Samsung’s options so far, it feels less bespoke than group-focused, a Pinterest mood board of inspiring kitchen colors for 2021. We look forward to the better options are coming soon.
