Sindh Health Minister chairs meeting on polio control and COVID situation

KARACHI: Sindh Provincial Minister of Health Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho recently chaired an important meeting on the anti-polio campaign and the corona vaccine situation in the province.

The meeting was attended by Health Secretary Sindh Kazim Jatoi, Parliamentary Health Secretary Qasim Soomro, EOC Coordinator Fayyaz Abbasi, as well as commissioners and deputy commissioners from across the province via a video link.

Sindh’s health minister said targeted polio coverage in all districts should be made possible in all cases while ensuring polio vaccination in the absence of children.

She asked to speed up the corona vaccination process in all districts and to keep in touch with all stakeholders in this regard. There is a danger of a fourth wave of coronavirus, so the scope of the vaccine should be expanded as soon as possible given the delta variant.

Dr Azra Pechuho said industries should be urged to vaccinate their workers to avoid another lockdown in the event of a possible fourth wave. She said only staff vaccination factories would be allowed to operate.

She asked the Deputy Commissioners that arrangements should also be made for the installation of corona vaccine at NADRA centers so that maximum vaccine coverage can be provided. She said final year medical and paramedical students should also be helped in the vaccination phase.

Vaccination is essential to prevent the spread of different variants of COVID and to restore normalcy. She said action will be taken against officers in districts where the vaccination target is not being met.
