Air Canada and Mexican regional carrier Aeromar have launched an interline partnership to offer single ticket itineraries and more seamless check-in, boarding and baggage transfer between the two carriers via Mexico City, Puerto Vallarta and Cancun, the airlines announced Tuesday.
Aeromar offers connections to at least 13 destinations in Mexico. Air Canada’s schedule serves seven destinations to the country from eight Canadian cities. Air Canada said its capacity to Mexico will exceed pre-pandemic levels this summer and ramp up to more than 100 weekly flights next winter.
The two airlines plan to eventually offer a codeshare relationship and are working on the launch of Aeromar as a partner of Air Canada’s Airplane coalition loyalty program, expected to be in place before summer 2022, according to the carriers. Members would be able to accrue and redeem Aeroplan points on all Aeromar-operated flights.
