JSE-listed entertainment giant MultiChoice Group will be adding Disney +, a new direct-to-consumer streaming channel, to its DStv service from May 18, 2022.
Confirming the move this week, MultiChoice said Disney + will be available via the Explora Ultra decoder and will stream movies and shows from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and more.

DStv subscribers will have access to acclaimed shows including Luca, Cruella, The Mandalorian, The Simpsons and The Kardashians to name a few.
MultiChoice, which delivers entertainment services to 21.1 million households across 50 countries on the African continent, believes the Disney deal aligns with the company’s goal of innovation and enhances viewer’s access and entertainment options.

Commenting on the partnership, Christine Service senior vice president and general manager of The Walt Disney Company, says: “This is yet another proud milestone in our partnership with the MultiChoice Group. We are delighted to be collaborating to bring South African DStv subscribers’ access to Disney +’s incredible catalog of films, series and exclusive content. ”
MultiChoice’s share price closed at R128.81 a share or 1.4% up on Tuesday (ahead of the Freedom Day public holiday on Wednesday), which values the group at just of R57 billion.
