Three motorcycle accidents since Sunday in Massachusetts have left two people dead and others seriously injured.
Taunton
The latest crash happened Tuesday afternoon in Taunton.
Just before 2 p.m., emergency crews responded to 150 Charles F. Colton Road for reports of a motorcycle accident involving a vehicle, said city police. The rider of a Harley Davidson motorcycle – a 39-year-old man from East Taunton who has not been publicly identified – was taken by ambulance to Morton Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The accident is still under investigation.
Carver
Earlier Tuesday, at approximately 10:35 a.m., emergency crews in Carver — also located in southeastern Massachusetts — responded to a crash at South Meadow Road and Ward Street, according to the local police. A 1990 Harley Davidson motorcycle and a 2022 Toyota Camry were involved in the crash, which remains under investigation.
The operator of the Harley, a 69-year-old Carver man, was seriously injured, police said. He was taken by ambulance to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Plymouth and then flown by medical helicopter to a hospital in Boston.
Charlemont
The first crash happened around 5 p.m. Sunday on Route 2 in Charlemont in western Massachusetts. The crash, which is also under investigation, involved a motorcycle and an SUV.
Husband and wife Robert and Sheila Rombeiro of Pittsfield were riding the motorcycle with Robert driving, according to the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office.
Sheila, 72, was taken to Baystate Franklin Medical Center, where she died. Robert, 69, was airlifted to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield with undisclosed injuries.
The driver of the SUV, a 69-year-old Greenfield woman, was also taken to Baystate Franklin Medical Center with injuries, officials said.
