The crash occurred less than a week after Worcester City Council voted to lower the citywide speed limit to 25 miles per hour.
A woman died in a car crash in Worcester on Tuesday, police said.
The “serious pedestrian accident” left another victim in the hospital, the Worcester Police Department said in a statement statement.
Police arrived at the intersection of Clover and South Ludlow Streets at 9:56 p.m. Tuesday, the statement said. Police said they found two victims at the scene and were both taken to hospital. The victim who died was 35, police said. The other, also a female, “suffered less serious injuries,” the department said.
Worcester police said a preliminary investigation shows a driver was traveling along South Ludlow Street when two pedestrians crossed the street. The vehicle struck both pedestrians and then another car, police said. An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
