A 39-year-old man was fatally wounded and another man was wounded in a shooting Thursday night on the West Side in the Lawndale neighborhood, Chicago police said.
Just before 11:15 p.m., two men, 39 and 42, were standing in the street in the 1500 block of South Kenneth Avenue when someone approached and opened fire, striking the victims before fleeing in a dark sedan.
The younger man suffered several wounds, including one to the back of his head. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was pronounced dead. He was identified as Carlos A. Grays of the 1300 block of South Christiana, according to the Cook County Coroner’s Office.
The other victim suffered wounds to the stomach, shoulder and buttocks and was taken to the same hospital in good condition, police said.
No one was detained and the police investigated.
