A 49ers rookie was shot in San Francisco on Saturday.
Ricky Pearsall was shot in the chest over a Rolex on his way to a book signing event, the San Francisco Police Department told reporters.
There then reportedly was a struggle for the gun, after which both Pearsall and the suspect were shot.
The local ABC affiliate reported Pearsall, 23, the incident took place in the Union Square neighborhood.
San Francisco Mayor London Breed posted on X confirming the shooting and the arrest of the suspect.
“SFPD was on scene immediately and an arrest of the shooter was made,” Breed wrote. “My thoughts are with Ricky and his family at this time. We will provide more updates, including on his condition, as I receive them.”
Pearsall is in stable condition and a suspect is in custody, according to NBC Bay Area.
Both he and the suspect — who was also in stable condition — were at San Francisco General Hospital, according to Fox 40.
49ers star Deebo Samuel appeared to offer an update on X shortly after the news broke.
“He’s fine. Thank God!!!!” he wrote on X.
He battled shoulder and hamstring injuries in training camp and missed all three preseason games.
