The investigation is ongoing and the police are asking for the public’s support.
Boston police are asking for the public’s help in an ongoing investigation after a shooting that injured five people in Franklin Park on Sunday night.
Officers working the Dominican festival heard gunshots at 8:43 p.m. near Circuit Drive as the event was coming to a close. Three men and two women did not suffer life-threatening injuries, authorities said.
The Dominican festival was scheduled to take place from noon to 10 p.m., and a parade would begin on Center Street in Jamaica Plain and end in Franklin Park, according to an event post.
Boston Police Commissioner Michael Cox asked anyone with video footage or other information to contact the Boston Police Department.
“There were many, many people who were witnesses,” Cox said in a news conference. “We need the public’s support in this.”
Emergency crews transported victims to a local hospital, and police located another victim who was also taken for medical attention, Cox said.
The department is sparing “no expense” on the investigation, he said.
“We need to hold these people accountable,” Cox said. “Whether it is an individual or individuals who are responsible for this heinous act.”
