A homeless man injured himself jumping from a second floor balcony inside Trump Tower to avoid the police on Thursday, police officers said.
The man caused a disturbance on the second floor of the residential skyscraper on Fifth Ave near E. 56th St. in Midtown when police approached him around 4:20 p.m., a Trump Tower employee told the Daily News.
Officers were leading the man out of the building when he suddenly mounted a railing on the second-floor balcony and jumped down to the lobby below, according to a police source.
“He jumped off the balcony all of a sudden,” the source said. “He didn’t say anything. He was just crazy.”
Although he fell about 30 feet – about three stories – the man was conscious after the fall and medics took him to NY Presbyterian–Well Cornell Medical Center in stable condition for treatment of head injuries, police said.
A motorcade carrying former President Donald Trump was seen entering the apartment tower about an hour after the man’s wild escape from police.
