Walgreens announced this week that 1,200 of its stores may close soon, while CVS, which is also in the midst of major workforce cuts, announced Friday that CEO Karen Lynch would be replaced. Rite Aid filed for bankruptcy last year. Across the industry, an estimated 7,000 pharmacies have already closed over the past five years. Jo Ling Kent investigates what is behind the closures.
