PINOLE – A Pinole man was shot Friday morning while trying to chase a home intruder, police said.
Around 5:30 a.m., the man found a masked person breaking into his garage, the Pinole Police Department said in a news release.
The man confronted the intruder, who ran to a vehicle parked in front of his home in the 3200 block of Estates Avenue, police said. Additional suspects were in the car.
The suspects drove off and the man chased them down in his own vehicle, police said.
The pursuit ended in the 2300 block of Simas Avenue when one of the suspects opened fire, hitting the man and his vehicle, police said. The man crashed after being shot.
The man was taken to an area hospital where his condition was stable, police said.
