AJ Brown will miss the Eagles’ Week 3 matchup against the Saints.
The star wide receiver is dealing with a hamstring injury that will take him out for a second straight week after sitting out Philadelphia’s loss to the Falcons on Monday.
After the game, Brown told ESPN that he expected to miss “a couple of weeks” with the injury, but that it shouldn’t affect him long-term.
His hamstring was reported to have grown up last Friday at practice.
“Obviously, with AJ being down, he’s one of the best players in the NFL, so you’re going to miss him,” Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said earlier this week.
The Eagles, who are 1-1 heading into Sunday’s action, will take on the Buccaneers in Week 4 before their bye week, potentially giving Brown another two full weeks to recover while missing just one extra game.
The Mississippi product has emerged as one of the top pass catchers in the NFL since being traded from the Titans to the Eagles prior to the 2022 season.
A three-time Pro Bowler, Brown, 27, has 199 receptions and 19 touchdowns in his first three seasons in Philadelphia.
Brown had a monster game in the Eagles’ season-opening win over the Packers in Brazil, catching five balls for 119 yards and a touchdown.
DeVonta Smith, who has seven receptions in each of the Eagles’ first two games, and Jahan Dotson are expected to pick up the slack in Philadelphia’s passing game in Brown’s absence.
