Plans are underway for the former Long John Silver’s location in Fairview Heights.
Rhodes Development filed a permit application with the city for a special use permit to build a tire repair shop at 218 Lincoln Highway. The business would offer tire sales, light mechanical services and vehicle maintenance services.
The application includes site plans for a Plaza Tire Service facility and involves the construction of a 6,560 square meter building with approximately 28 parking spaces.
Proposed opening hours would be 7:30am to 6:00pm Monday-Friday and 7:30am to 4:30pm on Saturdays.
If approved by the city, construction would begin within a year of that approval, according to the site development analysis in the Planning Commission’s Aug. 13 meeting packet.
The former Long John Silver’s building will be demolished, Land Use and Development Director Dallas Alley said in a recent phone call.
The property at 218 Lincoln Highway was acquired at auction on May 15 by Rhodes Development Company, LLC, which is based in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
The auction listing on the RI Marketplace website states that the transaction was completed on June 13.
Long John Silver’s opened in Fairview Heights in September 1976, according to advertisements found in BND archives. The restaurant closed in 2022.
