Philadelphia (CBS) – Millions of people are traveling in unprecedented numbers this weekend. AAA estimates that 37 million people will travel at least 50 miles from home last year.
That includes about 450,000 in the Philadelphia area.
AAA says this is a promising sign of what is to come this summer.
“With a lot of interest, people have been locked up in the house for more than a year,” said Robert Sinclair. We see people desperately wanting to travel and travel, the so-called ‘revenge trip’, where people save money because they didn’t go to work last year. And they go to places, stay longer, do things and spend a lot of money. ”
Most of the voyages are in the air, with federal agencies reporting heavy fighting on planes.
Southwest Airlines flight attendants say in a new letter that illegal passenger events are becoming “unbearable” and “violent.”
Last week, a South West flight attendant lost two teeth at a passenger, the union said.
Another problem is that people do not wear a head covering. They are still needed, even for the whole vaccine.
The TSA also said it was investigating 1,300 cases of infringement.
