Adele reveals the real reason why she embarked on a 45kg weight loss journey in an intimate Oprah interview

Adele spoke about her weight loss in an intimate interview with Oprah Winfrey.

In the Adele: Only one night TV special aired last night in the US, the British singer discussed her 100 pounds (about 45 kg) weight loss with the talk show queen, saying it was “never” about being “thin” but feeling stronger after her divorce from husband Simon Konecki.

“When I realized I had a lot of work to do for myself, I stopped drinking and I started training a lot … to keep myself somehow centered,” she recalled in the interview.

The 33-year-old revealed that she suffered from “terrible anxiety attacks” that completely “paralyzed” her when her two-year marriage ended in 2019.

The couple, who have been together since 2011 and shared son Angelo, nine, have finalized their divorce in January this year. Shortly after their separation, Adele realized that working with a trainer at the gym helped ease her anxiety.

“It was my time,” she said. “I have a plan every day … these kind of pins in my day have helped me stay together.”

Adele stressed that she was “not disturbed [weight] at all “and their work in the gym made it easy” to get [her] therefore, she was able to push aside a critique that came with her recent weight loss.

“I am not surprised or disturbed by any of these [weight comments] because my body has been objectified by my career, “she said,” but it’s not my job to make people feel validated by their bodies. “

Elsewhere in the Oprah interview, Adele admitted that it would be difficult to come up with a single parent.

“It’s a process. You know, the process of a divorce, the process of a single parent,” she said. “The process of not seeing your child every day was not really a plan I had when I became a mother. The process of coming to yourself every day, opening up every day for yourself and still running a home, a Business.

“So many people know what I’m talking about and I’m feeling that way too. I’m juggling those things too. I feel like not doing it anymore. And also trying with intent to move forward, not just trying to get out. for no reason. It hurt my feet to go through all that concrete. “
