Gregory McMichael, 65, is a white retired police officer.

Employment records show that he failed to complete adequate basic law enforcement training It reported the Guardian.

This led to him losing his ability to arrest in 2006, it is added, because he failed to complete the 20 hours of training required the previous year.

McMichael was an investigator at Brunswick’s District Attorney’s Office from 1995 to 2019.

News4Jax adds: “For eight years, Gregory McMichael acted as an investigator without arrest warrants due to lack of training.”

The website explains: “The loss of state mandate training for community-based policing, downsizing and use of force meant that between 2006 and 2014 McMichael had no authority or right to apply for arrest warrants, house search warrants or carry out arrests under the color of the law.”
