The Swedish Armed Forces flies PCR sampling samples to Germany for laboratory tests as healthcare comes under increasing pressure during the fourth wave of the pandemic.
The Air Force’s crews are scheduled to make three flights to Munich this week to reduce test backlogs. A similar operation was carried out during the third wave, when 12 flights to Munich provided overheating capacity for the HSE in January.
The assistant chief physician said yesterday that it was “impossible to increase PCR testing to the scale required to test everyone who needs one within two days”.
Dr Ronan Glynn’s comments on the test delays came when the number of counties without available meetings rose from 13 on Tuesday to 17 yesterday.
