Where did the inspiration for the “T-shirt” come from?
I was inspired to write this song after a long relationship. The song is a metaphor and a symbol to let go so that you can make room for the important things in your life. Personally, this song reminds me to move on from negativity no matter how difficult it is.
What does your creative process look like when writing a song?
The creative process behind the “T-shirt” was long. It started with a zoom session with my co-writer, Tony Ferrari, and producer Nick Pingri. We talked back and forth about the idea and the writing came naturally, but the melody was not with me. It took a few attempts to produce and perfect the melody, but I’m proud of how it turned out, with a few risks and being able to challenge my comfort zone.
What has helped you to take the necessary steps to move forward in this relationship?
Surviving the present moment and surrounding myself with a great support group is what got me through this kind of situation. My friends and family have always reminded me to stay positive and look for new and better opportunities.
What advice do you have for other young women in similar situations?
My advice would be to try and understand that you cannot rely on anyone else to make you happy. Surround yourself with a great support system that encourages you to be your best self and keep yourself busy with things that are beneficial for your mental health.
What is the best break up advice?
It’s the best job for you to stay busy and have a hard time helping someone stay there. The less time you have to think and stay in the memories, the faster you will overcome it. Find a new hobby or focus on your mental health and you will quickly find yourself in a healthy state.
