ELEKTRA (KFDX/KJTL) — After being taken from an Electra home last week during an animal cruelty investigation19 dogs and fur cats have a difficult road to recovery ahead of them.
According to animal control officer Kari Banahan, three puppies taken from the home have come down with parvo, and two more puppies have had to be hospitalized so far.
Banahan said that’s where the community can help, as Iowa Park Takes Back the Shelter, where the animals now reside, is in dire need of monetary donations to help care for the dogs and cats seized from the home.
Vaccines, dewormers and flea and tick prevention alone for all the animals cost nearly $1,000, and the shelter could use everything from puppy food to puppy shelter to chew toys, just no rawhides.
Electra’s mother and daughter were arrested for child endangerment, animal cruelty
The amount of donations they have received so far speaks volumes for the Texasoma community.
“The amount of donations that have come in has been absolutely amazing, it’s been very humbling,” Banahan said. – I had a few tears in my eyes because everyone has met so well. We have received so many donations.”
Banahan said if you are interested in making a donation of food, toys or money, get in touch PETS Clinic on (940) 723-7387.
