There is misinformation out there about everything from vaccines to testing to government sanctions to airline refund policies. I look forward to digging into the data with Val and sharing my personal experiences from our select trips over the past year, to help set the record straight. How the journey has changed: The travel industry as a whole – contributing $9 trillion to the world’s GDP in general – has changed markedly over the past year. I will discuss the impacts at individual and systemic levels and our predictions of when – or if – things will ever return to “normal” in the journey.
Ethics: Should you travel now? A sticky topic – let’s dive into it.
Security: Security practices vary from city to city, state to state, country to country. I’ll discuss how to reduce risk and what security protocols I’ve researched and used over the past year. What is “sanitation theater” and what is really effective? Dr. Val will weigh in!
Destination: If you are flexible in your destination, where are you allowed to go now? With borders closed, constantly changing restrictions, and fluctuating COVID rates, research – and where you get your information – is more important than ever. We will also discuss domestic travel in detail.
transportation: If you’re ready to fly, the airport and flight experience will look a little different from the experience you traveled to last. With several studies now released on the effects of air travel during COVID, we’ll discuss what to expect before, during, and after your arrival, as well as transportation on the ground. We’ll go through various airline policies and how to take advantage of flexible booking. There will also be a discussion on taking a low risk road trip.
Activities and Food: I’ll share what to expect and how to make the most of your destination while supporting vulnerable businesses as you go.
What to pack: We’ll cover an exhaustive packing list, my go-to brands for masks and sanitizers, and one of my favorite items you might not have thought about packing.
Testing: Be positive, test negative! This very important section of the workshop will answer questions like: What are the different types of COVID tests? Where can I get them? what are they like? Dr. Valerie and I will give some insider tips and tricks.
Quarantine: While the actual travel can be the fun part, these days planning is essential even after the trip. We’ll discuss how and when to quarantine, tips for hunkering down, and how to make the most of your downtime!
Vaccination: The COVID vaccine will undoubtedly affect travel in 2021 and beyond. We’ll talk about your expectations for vaccine rollout and vaccine travel restrictions in the coming years, break down the different vaccines available, and address any concerns you may have about getting it.
