A Arizona prisoner behind bars for sexual conduct with a minor has been pronounced dead after a fight with another inmate, according to officials.
Michael Dunbar, 43, died Monday after the altercation, according to the Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation and Reentry (ADCRR).
Dunbar was detained at Arizona State Prison Complex- Eyman. He has been in custody since 1998.

He was jailed after he was convicted out of Maricopa County of sexual conduct with a minor and indecent exposure.
Dunbar’s sentence was set to expire on June 15, 2038.
“ADCRR does not condone violence and will pursue criminal charges pending the outcome of the investigation,” ADCRR said in a statement.

All inmate deaths are investigated in consultation with the county coroner’s office, ADCRR said. ADCRR’s Office of the Inspector General has opened its first criminal investigation into Dunbar’s death.
Dunbar has had several disciplinary violations, including for assaulting other inmates beginning in 2010, prison records show.
