With “many diverse stories” “the idea of a campus is bringing people together”, Drake said.
An example of this, according to Imagineers, is the new Web Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure Ride that takes guests on a ride through a mansion that’s run rampant with friendly neighborhood superheroes’ latest pet project, Spider-Bots. which is self-replicating out of control.
Guests can buy their own web shooters at the shop that sells Spidey gear. Those purchases give them extra powers as they help the wall crawler demolish the Spider-Bots. During the ride, guests love it Spider Man Activating your own web shooters are hitting your webs. At the end of the ride, guests are shown the score like a video game.
“The core mission is always the same,” said Brent Strong, executive creative director at Walt Disney Imagineering. “But what the guests do plays a role in how it plays out.”
“We’ve got a million Easter eggs hidden in it,” he said.
“The story is about the guests … and the interactions of these heroes with the guests,” Strong said.
Dan Fields, executive creative director of Disney Live Entertainment, said Doctor Strange performs magic throughout the day, but it’s different at night. The Sorcerer Supreme opens a portal when he enlists guests to help him through a spell, to build a shield around the complex.
“It’s a massive gathering of heroes,” Fields said of the growing cast of characters in the attraction, including Iron Man, Ant-Man and his fellow Wasp and General Okoye and Dora Milaje of Black Panther’s Wakanda warriors.
Next month, Charm will add a performance of Super Villain Taskmaster clashing with Black Widow.
“I think it’s going to be really exciting,” Fields said. “More heroes are coming.”
General Okoye and Dora Milaje help guests become Wakandan warriors and Spider-Man performs acrobatics that include a giant catapult in the air web-slinging.
Guests can “take selfies” with Iron Man, but that’s not all, Fields said.
“He can and will talk to you,” Fields said.
Michel Gendre, director of the Food and Beverage Experience at Disneyland, said the Pimm Test Kitchen eatery and Shawarma Palace food cart also have ties to Marvel movies and comic books.
Hank Pym, aka Ant Man and the Giant Man, is the inspiration behind the restaurant, which features a variety of foods that may be smaller or larger than their pim particles.
“What has given us great success is how we connected the experience of eating to the story,” Gendreau said.
“You want to be here not only to be complete, but to feel that only Disney can do that,” she said.
Gendreau said adults can also partake in some alcoholic beverages.
“There’s a good selection of beers,” she said. “And a wide selection of microbrews.”
Her favorite, however, is Molecular Meltdown, which she said was a “stout float.” it’s yummy.”
Drake said excitedly: “It has mini marshmallows on top.”
