SEATTLE – Asisat Oshoala scored a penalty kick, and Bay FC held on for a 1-0 road win against the Seattle Reign at Lumen Field on Sunday to bolster their playoff hopes heading into the final month of the regular season.
In the 27th minute, Oshoala sent his penalty into the bottom left corner after Reign was disallowed for a foul in the box.
The win moved the expansion team into a tie with Portland for seventh in the NWSL with 28 points. The top eight teams advance to the playoffs.
Bay FC (9-12-1) has four games left in the regular season, including Saturday’s game against third-place Gotham FC. Bay FC’s next three opponents are currently in the top-5 in the playoff hunt. They finish the regular season on Nov. 2 at the Houston Dash last.
After going undefeated in seven straight games, the Reign (5-12-5) have now lost three straight.
