PALO ALTO – A man in his 80s died Wednesday from injuries he suffered in a solo bicycle accident earlier this week in Palo Alto, police said.
The collision happened around 1:45 p.m. Monday in the 2400 block of Park Boulevard, near California Avenue, according to the Palo Alto Police Department.
The man was riding southbound when he entered a lane closed for construction and fell from his bike, police said, adding that he suffered a “severe head injury.”
He was taken to an area hospital, where he later died from his injuries, according to police. The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office will release his identity after it is confirmed and his next of kin notified.
Police say the cause of the accident is still under investigation.
