CAMPBELL – A bicyclist was killed in a collision with a driver Wednesday in Campbell, police said.
The fatal crash happened around 9:05 a.m. at the intersection of the San Tomas Expressway and West Campbell Avenue, the Campbell Police Department said in a news release.
The adult male cyclist was taken to a hospital in the area, where he was later pronounced dead, police said. The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office will release his identity after it is confirmed and his next of kin notified.
Meanwhile, the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
There is no indication that alcohol or drugs played any role in the collision, the police say.
Southbound lanes of the San Tomas Expressway and eastbound lanes of West Campbell Avenue were closed for an investigation and did not fully reopen until 1:30 p.m.
