A confused President Biden fumbled and snarled at staffers after forgetting which world leader he was going to introduce at a press conference for a Quad summit on Saturday.
Biden, 81, was to call Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the stage, but appeared unsure which of the three visiting heads of government he was supposed to name.
“Thank you all for being here and now, uh, who do I introduce next? Who’s next?” Biden shouted after finishing his remarks.
A speaker then announced that Modi – the head of the world’s largest democracy – was up next, and the prime minister came up to shake hands with Biden soon after.
The outgoing president has hosted allies of the four-nation Quad alliance at his home in Wilmington, Delaware, for a brief summit as foreign leaders travel to the United States for the United Nations General Assembly.
The Quad – established to counter China’s influence – includes the US, Japan, India and Australia.
