President Biden specifically cited concerns that former Speaker Nancy Pelosi spoke out against him when he announced his tectonic decision to drop out of the race last month.
Biden said he dropped out because he faced pressure from Democrats in the House and Senate who worried he was hurting their chances of re-election.
“A number of my Democratic colleagues in the House and the Senate thought I would hurt them in the races. And I was worried if I stayed in the race, that would be the subject — you would interview me about why,” Nancy Pelosi said [something] … and I thought that would be a real distraction,” he told “CBS News Sunday Morning.”
After dropping out of the race, Biden immediately endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris who has since gained ground against former President Donald Trump in the polls.
