Apple TV+ revealed the exciting new trailer for its upcoming series Beforethe main role Billy Crystal in a role unlike anything we’ve seen from the comedy legend.
The psychological drama stars Crystal as Eli, a psychiatrist struggling with the recent death of his wife, played by the award-winning actress Judith Light.
But a bigger mystery seems to be brewing, suggesting there’s more to her death than meets the eye, especially when a troubled young boy turns up on his doorstep.
Noah “seems to have a terrible connection to Eli’s past,” reads the show’s official description. “When Eli tries to help Noah, their mysterious bond deepens.”
The trailer shows how Eli is haunted by his wife’s lingering presence as he struggles to understand Noah, whom his foster parent called “annoying.”
“I’m starting to feel like there’s a reason he found me,” Eli says after seeing the troubled young boy literally scratching at his door.
In another disturbing moment of the trailer, Noah seems haunted as he warns Eli, “You know what you did.” Was Eli involved in his wife’s death? Or was it Noah? There’s only one way to find out.
Eli seems to struggle with his own mental health as the lines between dreams and reality begin to blur the more he becomes involved in Noah’s case.
Before Jacobi Lupe plays Noah, The flight attendant actress Rosie Perez as Noah’s foster parent, as well Orange is the new black actress Maria Dizzia.
Crystal also serves as an executive producer on the series alongside Eric Roth, pilot director Adam Bernstein and executive producer Jet Wilkinson.
The 10-episode series premieres with two new episodes on Friday, October 25, followed by one new episode each week.
