Billy Joel will ring in 2025 with one concert at the UBS Arena on Long Island.
Joel, 75, announced the New Year’s show on Thursday morning. The the concert has a listed start time of 21:30 on December 31 at the home of the New York Islanders at Belmont Park. Joel played a similar show to close out 2023.
A Ticketmaster advance purchase starts on Monday at 10.00, and tickets are released at 10am on September 20 for anyone in the mood for a tune.
“Welcoming Billy Joel returns to UBS Arena is the perfect way to celebrate what has been a signature year for the new arena,” says arena manager Mark Schulman in a press release. “Capping off an amazing year that has featured legendary artists, sporting events and family shows with our hometown hero is the perfect way to ring in the new year.”
Earlier this year, Bronx-born and Long Island-raised Joel completed his record-breaking residency at Madison Square Garden. The last show was Joel’s 150th in the building and 104th of the residency, which began in 2014. Every performance was sold out.
At launch the residenceJoel promised to keep performing until people stopped coming, but they never stopped.
“I never expected it to take 10 years” Joel told the Daily News in July. “I have this nagging feeling of not overstaying your welcome, don’t overstay where people will tire of it.”
He also admitted that he will “probably at one point or another” perform at MSG again. Despite finishing the residency, Joel has continued to tour. He is scheduled to play in Cleveland on Friday nightalong with upcoming dates in St. Louis, Southern California, San Antonio, Las Vegas and South Florida.
– I intend to continue working. I mean, what else am I going to do?” Joel told the News. “Now, to be clear, if I can’t do it well anymore, I’m going to quit. I love the game too much not to do it well, but somehow I’ve been able to keep singing the songs.”
