Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Bowden Francis had himself a day against the Los Angeles Angels. He nearly no-hit the Angels and took the bid into the 9th inning.

Angels outfielder Taylor Ward led off the 9th inning with a home run to break things up. Francis left the match to a standing ovation from the supportive Toronto crowd.

Francis was at 116 pitches when he gave up the home run. It was a long day for the starter and he just couldn’t close the deal.

He would have become just the second pitcher in Blue Jay history to record the feat. Pitcher Dave Stieb recorded the first ever no-hitter in Toronto history back in September 1990.
