A body believed to be a British tech tycoon Mike Lynch’s 18-year-old daughter was found in the wreckage of the Bayesian superyacht on Friday – as Italian authorities reportedly launched a homicide investigation into what caused the tragedy.
Rescue divers found the sixth and last missing person on the sunken ship at noon local time off the coast of Sicily after a massive five-day search and rescue mission, the Italian coast guard said.
The woman’s body has not been officially identified but Lynch’s teenage daughter, Hannah, was the only passenger still missing.
Her father’s body was pulled from the wreckage of his yacht on Thursday.
The discovery of the final body came as Italian authorities launched a homicide investigation into what capsized the $40 million yacht after it was hit by an intense storm early Monday, local media reported.
The prosecutor’s office at Termini Imerese had begun investigations and was looking at a variety of crimes – including “ship crimes and several cases of crimes against an unknown person,” sources told Palermo Today.
