Brent Clifford, son of longtime Creedence Clearwater Revival drummer Doug Clifford, has been arrested in California in connection with a Nevada murder and a missing person case in California.
The Reno (Nev.) Police Department announced that Clifford was taken into custody in Portola, Calif., on Wednesday with the help of Plumas County Sheriff’s Office.
A warrant was out for Clifford’s arrest after William Andrews, 68, was found fatally shot in Reno Sunday morning. According to the police, the two knew each other. Clifford, 55, had Andrews’ red 2003 Chevy Blazer with him when he was arrested in Portola, about 50 miles northwest of Reno, police said.
Separately, the Placer County (California) Sheriff’s Office. and the Reno Police Department believes Clifford is a suspect in the disappearance of his girlfriend Patricia Portella-Wright, 48, who disappeared earlier this month. She was last seen with Clifford on August 4, i Kings Beach area of Lake Tahoe, but was not reported missing until Aug. 9 when she failed to show up for work.
An unidentified body believed to be Portella-Wright was discovered Thursday along a highway into Washoe County, Nevada, but it has not been confirmed to be the missing woman.
“There is clearly foul play involved,” said Placer County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Active Lt. Dave Smith during a Thursday press conference.
