Comedian Brittany Furlan yanked her dog from the jaws of a coyote that ran into her Woodland Hills backyard, according to an Instagram video posted Tuesday.
Furlan, wife of Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee, posted Ring camera video showing a coyote running into her yard at 1 p.m., attacking her two dogs and grabbing her dachshund Neena from the pool.
The furlan starts screaming and chases the coyote out of the camera, and eventually the dog comes back into the picture. As Lee runs out, Furlan pulls Neena in and yells, “A coyote grabbed Neena!”
“Thank goodness she’s a little fat because he couldn’t get over the wall with her,” Furlan wrote in his post. In the video description, Furlan said she climbed the wall and took the dog out of the coyote’s mouth.
“Be very careful with your dogs,” Furlan wrote in the post. “I’ve lived here for four years and I’ve never seen a coyote and today this happened. They’re desperate.”
The food will be more scarce in the fall for coyotessay experts, and neighborhood pets can look like easy prey.
A coyote made its way into a Simi Valley home through a dog door in May, targeting the family Chihuahua.
If approached or attacked by a coyote, resources from California Department of Fish and Wildlife advises you to wave your arms, make noises and walk towards the coyote until it retreats and avoid leaving animals or food in the backyard overnight in residential areas.
