Johnson, a two-time Stanley Cup champion, will have a chance to make the roster.
The Bruins made a low-risk move with hopes of bolstering their depth Saturday, signing veteran forward Tyler Johnson to a professional tryout deal.
Johnson, 34, has played in 738 career games over 12 seasons in the National Hockey League. He has 193 career goals and 238 assists and has won two Stanley Cups – in 2020 and 2021 with the Tampa Bay Lightning.
The 5-foot-8, 185-pound Johnson most recently played for the Chicago Blackhawks, where he saw action in 67 games a season ago.
Johnson hopes to extend his successful run in the league and prove he has more firepower as his career winds down.
The Bruins will take a look at Johnson in training camp to see if he fits the roster and determine if he’s earned a spot.
