Kern County was hit by a magnitude 5.3 earthquake Tuesday night, centered in Lamont, Calif., not far from Bakersfield, according to the USGS.
The 5.3 earthquake struck at 9:09 PM PT and was followed by several aftershocks.
The earthquake was felt across Los Angeles and down into Orange County.
More than a dozen aftershocks occurred after the main quake, including one measuring 4.5 magnitude and another measuring 4.1, both located in the same area as the main quake.
Tremors continue in the Grapevine area, which lies between Santa Clarita, north of Los Angeles, and Kern County, the USGS reported.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office tells KABC7 Los Angeles that so far there have been no reports of injuries in LA County. However, LA’s fire department is in earthquake mode.
