Smoke from the Canadian wildfires returned to the Big Apple, bringing hazy conditions to the region on Wednesday, forecasters said.
Light smoke could be seen in parts of New Jersey and New York City Wednesday morning as smoke from wildfires burning in parts of Canada drifted south, according to National Weather Service.
Winds blowing from the north “can pull smoke into mid and upper levels [of the atmosphere] from wildfires in Canada, potentially resulting in some hazy conditions,” the agency’s New Jersey office noted in a statement, according to NJ.com.
“However, the extent to which this occurs is uncertain,” the office added.
The weather service’s office in New York – which covers all five boroughs, Long Island and parts of Connecticut and northern New Jersey – said the hazy conditions were likely to last for several days.
