Candidate interrupted by sex toy on drone, punched in incident – Boston News, Weather, Sports

ALBUQUERQUE, NM (AP) — A New Mexico sheriff, running for mayor of Albuquerque, was attached to a sex toy by a flying drone on stage during a campaign event and was punched by a man.

Bernalillo County Sheriff Manuel Gonzales’ campaign said Democrats were not harmed and “will not be intimidated.”

The Albuquerque Journal reported A video posted to Facebook shows Gonzales answering questions from viewers as he stood on a stage at an event center when a sex toy drone buzzed near the stage.

A Sheriff’s Office report said the owner of the event center grabbed the device and 20-year-old Kellan Ashby Dreyer unsuccessfully tried to grab it.

The report said that Dreyer turned his attention to Gonzales, clenched his fists and called him “a tyrant.” A deputy wrote that Dreyer punched Gonzales in the arm and was then removed from the incident by the deputy.

Gonzales said at a press conference on Wednesday They believed that Dreyer was with several accomplices and saw someone who was standing on the other side of the fence and was reportedly flying a drone.

“It got so distracted by the sound and everything that I couldn’t really keep my word,” Gonzales said.

Dreyer has been charged with battery of minor misconduct and of resisting, evading or obstructing an officer. According to a deputy in the report, Dreyer said he did not intend to kill Gonzales, but was upset with the way Gonzales answered a question and intended to swing his fist in the air.

Gonzales suggested Wednesday that the stunt with the drone may have been sent off by a rival campaign of incumbent Mayor Tim Keller, who is also a Democrat.

Keller’s campaign described the stunt as “disruptive, rude and immature” and denied any involvement.

Keller campaign manager Neri Holguin said, “Suggesting that we were behind this is pathetic and the kind of frustration that characterizes Manny’s troubled campaign.”

Dreyer denied to the Albuquerque Journal that he was working for Keller’s campaign and said he was not even a fan of the incumbent. He declined to comment further.

Dreyer did not have a listed phone number where a listed attorney in court records could be reached by the Associated Press for comment or in court records to comment on his behalf.
