Center Creed Humphrey and the Chiefs have reached an agreement that makes the NFL veteran the highest-paid center in league history, according to multiple reports.
The four-year deal is worth $72 million with $50 million guaranteed, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported.
Humphrey has started in every game he has played since the Chiefs drafted him in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft, which includes 51 regular season games and 10 playoff contests during his career.
He has been a Pro Bowler in two of his first three seasons in the NFL and has won two Super Bowl titles with the Chiefs.
Humphrey was also named second-team AP All-Pro in 2022.
The University of Oklahoma product has been a crucial part of the Chiefs’ past Super Bowl runs, protecting quarterback Patrick Mahomes as a strong pass protector and run blocker.
Last year, he was graded 78.2 on Pro Football Focus.
Mahomes had signed a big contract extension with the Chiefs but restructured his deal to give Kansas City salary cap relief so the franchise could make another push for a Super Bowl championship.
This is Humphrey’s fourth season in the NFL.
He was scheduled to earn $4.815 million in base salary in the final year of his rookie deal.
