OAKLAND — Two suspects involved in side hustle activity near the Bay Bridge were arrested early Friday morning after leading officers on a chase both by car and on foot, authorities announced Friday.
California Highway Patrol officers attempted to stop the suspects, who were observed engaging in side activities in a white Infiniti, near the Treasure Island ramp as the suspects fled. A chase into Oakland resulted in the Infiniti crashing into a tree in a median on Mandela Parkway.
The driver and passenger were arrested after a brief foot chase, transported to a local hospital for medical clearance and booked into the Santa Rita Jail on multiple charges including reckless driving and felony evading, according to a CHP press release.
“CHP Oakland Area has a zero-tolerance policy for sideshows, street racing and reckless driving and will take appropriate action to keep our roadways safe,” authorities said in a press release announcing the arrests Friday. “As a reminder, if you drive in a reckless manner or flee from our officers, you can still be held responsible even if you are not arrested at the time of the incident.”
