He said he has already met with officers in person to apologize for his actions.
Three days after Christian Barmore accused police of racially profiling him, the Patriots defensive tackle apologized for his actions in a posts on X.
Barmore according to information was acting in a “belligerent” and “aggressive” manner when Providence officers pulled him over early Wednesday morning. He said he was driving 10 km/h and they approached him for no reason.
“I just experienced for the first time 5 Providence cops very unprofessional racism at its finest,” Barmore, 25, wrote on X at 1:22 a.m., according to to Boston Globe. The post was then removed.
On Saturday afternoon, Barmore said he had a chance to “deeply reflect” on his conduct.
“I want everyone to know that I am sorry and I take full responsibility for my actions,” Barmore wrote. “I apologize to the Providence Police Department, my teammates and my family. My mother was a police officer and I understand the pressures of their job. Which I didn’t make any easier by reacting the way I did.”
Barmore said he’s using the experience as an “opportunity to learn and do better.” He said he has already met with members of the Providence Police Department to personally apologize.
“It is my hope that they will accept my sincere apology,” Barmore wrote. “That meeting is just the first step of many that I am taking on the road to self-improvement.”
