Climate policies don’t need to be ‘locked now’

Regional Health Minister David Gillespie said Australia does not need “lock-in” climate policies as they could change over the next decade.

This comes as the National People prepare to review Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s climate plan this Sunday to reach net zero by 2050.

“We don’t need policies that could change tenfold in 30 years of lockdown right now; We are always looking to the future,” Mr Gillespie told Sky News Australia.

But we want to do it in this global rush to make extraordinary commitments without a detailed blueprint for how we will actually do it, without disrupting our cities, our entire lifestyle and regional Australian business.”
