Coronation Street pests follow
Coronation Street Star Charlotte Jordan has hinted that her character Daisy Midgeley could be an absolute soap villain in the future.
Daisy moved to Weatherfield late last year and showed a ruthless side by interfering in the life of her former stepmum Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews).
When Jenny’s husband Johnny (Richard Hawley) is in jail this year, Daisy tries to convince him to leave him.
Recently, Daisy also blackmails Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan) after discovering he had a one-night stand with Jenny.
Speaking to Digital Spy and other media about how far Daisy can go in the future, Charlotte teases: “So, this is the thing – I’ve had discussions with script editors, narrators and producers because I think it’s still in the air.
“I think they still decide how dark we are to him. So the honest answer is I don’t really know!
“I try to leave choices when I’m working for him to be more humane, and I try to leave choices for him that maybe become completely psychotic. So I don’t really know right now.
“Right now he’s pretty much a troublemaker, he’s pretty minxy and he has a little bit of backstory behind it. I’ll play all sides of the spectrum, which is lovely.”
This week’s episodes saw Daisy almost kicked out by Jenny after announcing her attempts to blackmail Ronnie.
Daisy opens up about her past and reveals she has nowhere else to go, so eventually agrees to give her one last chance.
If Daisy ever told Jenny the truth, Charlotte replied: “I’ll say it’s true. It’s definitely her truth. Again, I don’t know what the plan will be later. I don’t know if she missed certain bits or what man, perhaps to suit his narration.
“But I think it’s 100% true. For her to finally open up, and show that side to her, I think it takes a little bit of trust in Jenny. Because right now she’s pretty fake at all to get just what he wanted.
“This is what he undressed and said:‘ This is what happened to me and I really don’t want to leave, so don’t drive me away ’.
“Which I think is a very good side to see him, because no one is born horrible. No one is born a wife or a villain or whatever you want to call it – they did that.”
Coronation Street air at 9pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday next week on ITV.
