Police arrested a man and woman wanted for assaulting an 82-year-old woman, stomping on her after throwing her to a Bronx sidewalk, police announced on Friday.
William Ballinger and Tammie Moore, both 32, were handcuffed Wednesday on charges of second- and third-degree assault for the unprovoked assault who hospitalized their geriatric victim, police said.
The elderly victim was collecting empty pledge bottles along E. 212st St. near White Plains Road in Williamsbridge around 7:05 p.m. when the pair attacked, according to police.
Ballinger and Moore punched the woman repeatedly before knocking her to the concrete sidewalk, where they continued to stomp on her body, police said.
EMS rushed the woman to Jacobi Hospital for injuries to his face and hip, according to police and the victim’s daughter.
The victim told police she had never interacted with the couple before their sudden and unprovoked assault, police said.
Ballinger and Moore have 18 arrests between them, according to a police source.
Police first cuffed Ballinger for criminal possession of a firearm in 2012. He has been arrested 8 times, not counting Wednesday’s bust, on charges including robbery, DWI and drug possession, the source said.
Moore was handcuffed 10 times in 2020, all for petty theft, police said.
