Cowboys vs. Raiders odds, prediction, betting trends for NFL Thanksgiving games

When the Raiders (5-5) travel to Dallas to host the Cowboys (7-3) for the late afternoon game of the NFL Thanksgiving (16:30 ET, CBS), they will be looking to save what is left of their fading playoff chances in the AFC. Las Vegas is only two games worse than Dallas considering its overall work, but it has evolved in the wrong direction with three consecutive losses after goodbye.

The Cowboys would like to return to their dominant ways after losses to other AFC West teams, the Broncos and Chiefs, in two of the last three games. Attack disorders have slowed them down around Dak Prescott. Top wide receivers Amari Cooper (COVID-19) and CeeDee Lamb (concussion), while left tackle Tyron Smith (ankle) and returning Ezekiel Elliott (knee) hope to play effectively through their injuries.

The Raiders need Derek Carr to break out of his downturn to have any chance of finishing their slip and dropping the Cowboys to 1-3 against their division. When the Cowboys lost in Kansas City, the Raiders fell hard at home against the Bengals last week.

Here’s all there is to know about betting on Cowboys vs. Raiders in Week 12, including updated odds, trends and our expert prediction for the 2021 NFL Thanksgiving game.

Cowboys vs. Raiders all-time series

The Raiders and Cowboys have only played 12 times. Each team has won six games in a limited series dating back to 1974. Going back to 2009, the Cowboys have won three games in a row to reach straight. Before that, the Raiders enjoyed a winning streak of three games.

Three trends to know

-53 percent of spread bettors believe the Cowboys are too strongly favored in the game and expect the Desperate Raiders to keep it closer to a short week.

As many as 70 percent of over / under-betters do not believe that the total number will exceed the high number, given the recent game and the current limits for both offenses.

—Raiders are only 4-6 against the spread with their .500 record where half of their games hit over. The Cowboys are 8-2 ATS and 7-3 SU this season, where also half of their matches hit over.

Three things to see

Another Carr accident

The Cowboys’ defense continues to play well for Dan Quinn with young playmakers Micah Parsons and Trevon Diggs leading the way. They have been active and aggressive, and although the Raiders can at times take advantage of them with tight-end Darren Waller and slot receiver Hunter Renfrow, they will neither be able to run nor stretch the field well. This feels like another game where Carr will be pressured into a thrilling game.

Dak back on the attack

The Cowboys failed to score a touchdown against the Chiefs after scoring at least two in every game this season. Prescott is down for Cooper and Lamb, but he still has wide receivers Michael Gallup and Cedrick Wilson and tight-end Dalton Schultz as key goals. He tends to play better at home, just like the rest of the team, and that should help them find explosive and balanced attacks.

The benefit of Turkey Day

Cowboys tend to win and give themselves a Happy Thanksgiving at home. Their record on the holiday is 28-15-1. They also lost last year to Washington and did not like the taste of it. It was without Prescott in line, so the confidence and scam should be back.

State that matters

132.1. That’s how many rushing yards on average the Raiders’ defense gives in, ranking them No. 29 in the NFL. The Cowboys have not been able to run well lately because Elliott has been beaten up and the game script is flowing out of their favor. But this game screams that they need to get back to basics and strike out with Elliott and Tony Pollard, and they often use both as short-range receivers to expand the running game further.

Cowboys vs. Raiders prediction

The Raiders are trending in the wrong direction, while the Cowboys are just overcoming some mid-season hiccups related to staff and matchups. The Broncos game was a stroke of luck at home, while the Chiefs game became a tough situation in the elements along the way. The Cowboys will find solace in the victory again, with the Raiders doing some cosmetic work late to make the game still not close.

Cowboys 27, Raiders 17
