BAY POINT – Contra Costa Fire Protection District and Cal Fire crews battled a vegetation fire Wednesday afternoon that broke out near state Highway 4, officials said.
The fire broke out about 1:35 p.m. and quickly grew to 15 acres, requiring three alarms, according to a social media post by Cal Fire.
According to officials, the fire was on a hillside near Willow Pass Road at Avila Road. Smoke could be seen from the highway and areas of the city.
