A father has been charged with murdering his daughter after accusing the family’s cat of inflicting horrific injuries on the child.
An American man has been charged with murdering his infant daughter after he accused the family cat of leaving her with broken bones, bleeding on the brain and broken ribs.
Kristopher Henderson, 39, is accused of inflicting terrible damage on his two-month-old daughter at their home in Mankato, Minnesota in September. Mankato Free Press reported.
The baby was hospitalized on September 23 for her injuries, but she died earlier this month.
She had “little or no brain activity” before being pronounced dead on November 3, according to court documents. New York Post reports.
Police claimed that Henderson had first tried to blame the family’s cat for the injuries.
He later confessed to beating the baby in her back for five minutes in an attempt to silence her.
Henderson is said to have admitted that he hit the girl enough to break her ribs, police say.
The father was initially accused of first-degree assault, but it was upgraded to second-degree murder unintentionally when he committed a felony while at the same time committing a malicious punishment against a child in the wake of the girl’s death.
He is being held on a bond of $ 1 million ($ 1.4 million).
The baby’s official cause of death is still awaiting the autopsy results.
