The World Cup in tennis is back again in 2021. This year’s Davis Cup finals by Rakuten promise to be the biggest and best to date – with Britain going after an 11.th title.

Find out everything you need to know about where the event will take place, the UK team, the schedule and how to watch.

When is the Davis Cup Finals 2021?

The Davis Cup finals start at Thursday, November 25th – with the first matches starting from kl. 15.00 British time – and the finals take place on Sunday, December 5th.

Where will the Davis Cup Finals 2021 be held?

For the first time, this year’s finals will be held in three different countries:

  • Madrid Arena, Madrid, Spain
  • OlympiaWorld, Innsbruck, Austria
  • Pala Alpitour, Turin, Italy

Each venue hosts the matches for two of the groups as well as at least one quarterfinal.

The remaining teams will then go to Madrid for the final stages of the competition.

What is the format of the Davis Cup Finals 2021?

This year’s finals feature 18 teams from around the world, including 12 qualifiers, the previous year’s four semi-finalists and two wild cards.

The teams are divided into one of six groups, where they compete in a round robin format.

Each draw involves two singles and a double rubber, played as the best of three tie-break set matches. The teams with the highest number of points in their group when all matches have been played qualify for the quarter-finals along with the two best second places.

The tournament will then go into straight knockout rounds until a team is crowned champion.

Which UK players will compete in the Davis Cup Finals 2021?

Led by Captain Leon Smith, the UK team for the Davis Cup final will include:

  • Cam Norrie (WR: 12)
  • Dan Evans (WR: 25)
  • Liam Broady (WR: 128)
  • Joe Salisbury (Double WR: 3)
  • Neal Skupski (Double WR: 20)

With some of the ATP Tour’s most well-informed players right now, the British team looks set to face a serious challenge this year and build on their semi-final in 2019.

Cam Norrie is recovering well from a performance at the Nitto ATP Finals and has been one of the best players on tour this season. With 50 wins to his name and the Indian Wells title to his name, Norrie will be a tough opponent for any player at this year’s finals.

Evans also comes after a year in which he won his first ATP title and was one of the few players to defeat Novak Djokovic in 2021. He, Norrie and Broady have all reached the high singles rankings of their careers this year and will be one of The best singles trios in the competition.

Salisbury and Skupski are both Grand Slam champions in 2021 – Salisbury won the US Open men’s and mixed doubles as well as the French Open mixed, and Skupski lifted the Wimbledon Mixed title in July. They are also experienced as a doubles pair after playing together and winning the title in San Diego a few months ago.
