Escambia County received a development proposal in late September that aims to build a new commercial hub in the Ferry ticket with a shopping center and a restaurant area.
The project is called Nine Mile Retail Center, and its developers want to transform a 4.18-acre site into a nearly 10,000-square-foot shopping center and restaurant building with 5,259 square feet of interior space, as well as a 1,478-square-foot exterior space.
Potential tenants for shopping center and restaurant space are not yet available.
Three access points are planned in the proposal, two of which will direct motorists onto Wanda Drive while the last will provide access to Nine Mile Road.
They also plan to create a parking lot that the mall and restaurant will share with 124 spaces, including six handicap spaces and a crosswalk between buildings.
Ping Man LLC is the listed owner and developer of the project in its site plans filed with Escambia County, and they proposed building the potential hub next to the incoming Cefco deli on East Nine Mile Road.

They have owned the site of the proposed project for two years after purchasing the land for the sum of $995,000 from Nine Mile Road Retail Centers LLC, according to the warranty deed filed on the Escambia County Property Appraiser’s website.
Plans for the Nine Mile Retail Center were proposed to Escambia County on September 26. The project is scheduled for an initial application review by the county’s development review committee on Wednesday, October 2.
